The AWANA clubs purpose is to "reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him".

AWANA

What is AWANA?

AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is derived from 2 Timothy 2:15, "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth" (NKJV). The AWANA program is divided into five distinct groups consisting of Cubbies (3-5 year olds), Sparks (K-2nd grade or 5-7 year olds), Truth & Training (8-11) & Trek (11-14), and Journey 24/7 (14-18)

The weekly meetings take place during the school year on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8pm and consist of game time (for fellowship and release of energy), handbook time (for Bible memorization), and council time (for age directed Bible lesson and application). Special awards can be earned by memorizing the various biblical passages listed in age-graded AWANA books.

The overall AWANA program of FBC is under the direction of Pastor Broersma who serves as the commander. Each group functions generally independently under the leadership of a specific director.
