Meeting the needs of people in our community.
We are a lot of different things, but above all else, we are people—people from a variety of walks of life, a broad spectrum of ages, and with many different backgrounds, abilities, needs, and interests. We are drawn together by a mutual desire to know God in a personal way, to worship Him, and to live lives that please Him. Therefore we place a great emphasis on the study of God’s Word, the Bible, as our guidebook for life.
Dr. David L. Broersma began his ministry with FBC in November of 1997. He and his wife, Susan, have three adult children: Emily, Philip, and Stacey.
His desire is "to know Christ and make Him known." His focus of ministry is to work toward equipping the Church to love the Lord and one another, to serve the Lord wholeheartedly, to develop healthy biblical beliefs, behaviors, and attitudes, to reach our community for Christ, to care for the needs of one another, and to enjoy a warm basis of fellowship in the body.
Pastor Broersma received his academic and ministry training from Calvin College (73-74), Grand Rapids School of the Bible & Music (Bible, 77-79), Bryan College (B.A., Greek, 1981), Dallas Theological Seminary (Th.M., Systematic Theology, 1985), and Cornerstone University (D.Min., Education/ Management, 2000). Prior to coming to FBC, he ministered for 12 years as the associate pastor of East Bay Calvary Church in Traverse City, Michigan.
